Corrosion Control at industrial electronics

All modern industrial processes, are controlled by electronics. Whether we talk about Pulp & paper industry, (Petro)-chemical industry, power plants, metal manufacturing, or any other heavy industry, the production stops when the electronics fail. One of the causes of failure of these electronics is corrosion due to acid gases. Copper and silver contacts get corroded and the electronics fail, causing high maintenance costs, but even higher costs due to production down time.

ISA 71.04-2013

To prevent corrosion from happening the air quality needs to be classified as G1 according to ISA71.04-2013, meaning that acid gas concentrations need to be as low as 1 ppb. When the air quality does not meet this level, warranty on your electronics may not apply. CFI can check the air quality in your control room by using corrosion coupons. Knowing the air quality gives you control over the equipment reliability of your electronics.

Solution

When your air quality is not good enough, CFI provides a solution by not only designing a filter system, but also assessing the complete situation and advises you what to do to get G1 classification.

Corrosion can not only happen at electronics, but also at your air compressor which provides you with the necessary compressed air. See our section Compressor Intake Filter for more information.
