Corrosion Control in Datacentres
Data centres play an important role in our private and professional lives. All our data is stored in data centres. When they fail, you cannot access your data, and even worse, data may be lost. Failure in data centres can be caused by corrosion due to acid gases. Copper and silver contacts get corroded and the electronics fail, causing high maintenance costs, but even higher costs due to production down time. When data centres are in the vicinity of industrial areas or agricultural areas, acid gases are in the environment and can be taken in through the fresh air intake.

ISA 71.04-2013
To prevent corrosion from happening the air quality needs to be classified as G1 according to ISA71.04-2013, meaning that acid gas concentrations need to be as low as 1 ppb. When the air quality does not meet this level, warranty on your electronics may not apply. CFI can check the air quality in your control room by using corrosion coupons. Knowing the air quality gives you control over the equipment reliability of your electronics.
Solution
When your air quality is not good enough, CFI provide a solution by not only designing a filter system, but also assessing the complete situation and advise you what to do to get G1 classification. Activated carbon cylinders can clean the fresh air supply, while honeycomb panel filters can clean the recirculation air.
